The Spring Term at Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy so far has been a joyful celebration of Welsh culture, tradition, creativity, and community spirit. From the excitement of our Eisteddfod to the buzz of World Book Day, the school has been alive with music, imagination, and enthusiasm.
Our annual Eisteddfod showcased the incredible talents of our pupils. The hall was filled with beautiful singing, expressive recitals, and heartfelt performances. Alongside the performances, pupils impressed with their Lego building, model making, artwork, and handwriting competitions. The standard was incredibly high, and it was great to see pupils exploring Welsh traditions and heritage through creativity.
This year was especially exciting as we introduced our very first inter‑house competition, with pupils proudly representing our school houses, named after the three local rivers: Mynwy, Troddi & Gwy. The friendly atmosphere and teamwork shone through all day, and after lots of wonderful performances, Troddi celebrated the very first win.
In March were delighted to welcome families, friends, and prospective pupils to our Open Morning. Classrooms were a hive of activity as visitors explored the school, enjoyed our outdoor spaces, met our dedicated staff, and experienced the warm, inclusive atmosphere that makes Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy so special. The positive feedback from visitors was heart‑warming, and we look forward to welcoming our new families soon.
With the Summer Term on the way, we are excited to continue nurturing creativity across the school. We’re especially looking forward to working with our Creative Learning Partner, following our successful Arts Council of Wales Experiment Grant bid. This special partnership will give our pupils even more chances to explore new ideas, express themselves, and enjoy creative learning experiences together through the Welsh language.
We’re also already looking forward to Sports Day, which is always a highlight of the term. The children can’t wait for another friendly inter‑house challenge — a chance for Mynwy, Troddi and Gwy to cheer each other on once again. After Troddi’s big win at the Eisteddfod, there’s lots of excitement building… who will take the trophy this time!?
